Using Facebook to Build Your Massage Business
Published: 01/06/2010 by Julie Onofrio
Facebook is one of the many social networking sites that can help you to build your massage business. To begin with you need to set up an account for free if you haven't already. From there you can start what is called a fan page for your massage business to help connect your clients and potential clients. If you go to the help section and click on Pages it will also give you a link to where you can set up your page.
When you invite people to become friends with you be sure to create a separate listing and privacy settings to keep your personal and profession life separate if you want. When you accept clients as friends you can then invite them to join your fan page. What usually happens then is that the clients friends see that they joined and will see what they are getting massage from you.
You can also find local businesses and become fans of their business connecting you to even more people.
The downside to Facebook are that it doesn't keep your clients from knowing each other if that is an issue. It is just one of the ways to connect with people. there are many massage groups and pages up that are quite interesting and making new professional connections is always good. The other problem really is that when you post things on your fan page, people don't really always see them. You don't have direct access to your followers. It is better to build a email list from your website. You can also use one of the applications called Static FBML and add a sign up form to your page for your newsletter.
Social Networking also works better if you have a content rich website that offers clients and potential clients the information that they need to make the call for the appointment. Your website and Facebook account is all part of building trust with potential clients so that they will feel confident in your skills enough to make that call!
